Enthusiastic observer and scientist who studies life.
Where do I start?
Maybe if I made a chart…
It would help me to remember
How it all started one November
Many years ago in a small town
When I turned my mom’s frown upside down.
She had lost someone very dear
But now I was here!
But Memphis couldn’t keep me from wandering
The more I saw the more I was pondering
As to what was out there I could discover
I was a wander-lust lover
First it was Puerto Rico and all its adventures
But I wasn’t going to wait for until I needed dentures
It was all to be now
I was going to hang from the bough,
Swim in the surf
I was going to claim my turf
Then came Maryland with its bit of family history
Then I ran for California and all it’s mystery
While I was there I grew my own garden
Where I sprouted a little girl who gave me a pardon
To be the kid that I always thought I was
But as a grownup I had lost my fun kid buzz
She gave it back to me
I don’t have to be old and stodgy-she set me free
So together we went for a quick stop in D.C.-the melting pot
Then onto Texas where it was hot!
We joined Daddy and his Air Force Base
But I couldn’t stop and give up the chase
So next we ran to New York State
Not the popular city, but far away past the Great Lakes
Where there’s only water running or frozen
We ate fresh vegetables that were ambrosian
In the short summer that year
We roamed and explored our new frontier
But when winter hit, which came quite soon
We would smile at the snow and wish for June.
Yet in New York we didn’t stay
We had to continue our expedition-we couldn’t delay!
In the winter we traveled to Virginia with all our goods in tow
Then back to Maryland where we have lived for four years in a row!
Is this the end of our exploring adventure?
Am I now a permanent Maryland bencher?
Who sits on the sidelines and read about other travelers and their wonderful ventures
Reminiscing about my own adventures?
No, my story doesn’t end here
In fact, it’s very clear
That adventures are yet to be
Like how I recently went to Germany to see its’ country
And soon I will harvest my garden that we have planted
Our son will arrive in May and make our lives enchanted
It will be the four of us then
Oops, I forgot to count in
The two dogs, the cat, and the guinea pig
I am just at the beginning of learning this life jig!
